About

IMG_2279Hi, I’m Cortney.  I’m a reader, writer, artist, and maker.  Also a wife and mom.  I write in-depth book reviews on the field of art & craft and all things creativity.  I try to use these books as the authors intended—to make and grow as an artist &/or craftsperson.  While I love my local independent booksellers and the San Francisco Public Library, I sometimes buy from on-line.  In browsing reader comments, I recognized the deficit for more depth of review in this particular genre.  It is my goal to illuminate these books in a new way. I focus on how they succeed for me, as singular reader and maker. But my hope is that this perspective yields an articulate and faceted review of each book that might change how you {wholly individual in your own ways} might read and make from this diverse, hands-on genre.  Read, create, repeat.

I’m not a crafter, but I am awed when learning about the process and seeing the results. I’m so glad there are people like you who make such beautiful things!

This is so you! And so wonderful! Your narratives jump off the screen along with your beautiful art work. You know I’m a “crafter want-a-be” and your encouragement is calling out to me. I love this! I’m so thrilled for you (and all the rest of us that get to enjoy the fruits of your labor!) I have tears in my eyes. Go Cortney, go! xo
